[CLOSED] Technical Research Assistant and Data Analyst Position

Job description
You will be helping to build the tools for a network that is expanding the field of critical data studies via the following services, including (but not limited to):
- Designing large data collection pipelines
- Training and scoring machine learning models
- Assisting with the structure of modern web applications and services for alternative data exploratory visuals
- Offering insights into the intersecting fields of communications, new media, machine learning, and big data platforms
Skills and qualifications required
- Command of unit testing, debugging, and general software development principles
- Experience with analyzing datasets, and an interest to learn new technologies in order to do so
- Proficiency with using data storage techniques
Experience and skills that would be an asset:
- Storage: Experience with SQL, Data Lake storage (Presto)
- Visualization: Apache Superset, p5.js
- Infrastructure: Experience with Digital Research Alliance Tools (OpenStack, SLURM)
- Data Science: sklearn, pytorch, weights & biases
- Software Development: Python, React, Docker, Kubernetes, Django, Celery
- Proficient knowledge of version control tooling and methodologies (e.g., Git)
More about position and salary
- Expected about 20 hours/week, at $35/hour
- Work is flexible; some of it can be done off-campus, but in-person meetings may be required
- Minimum 8 month contract with the possibility for extension
